The warrant

Partner Grant Burston is the current holder of the warrant as Crown Solicitor for the Wellington region.

Crown Solicitors are private legal practitioners appointed by warrant of the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Attorney-General. Crown Solicitors are appointed for a particular district, usually in a High Court centre, and are responsible for the conduct of trials in the High Court and District Court on behalf of the Crown. Crown Solicitor warrants are held by partners in private law firms. There are currently 16 Crown Solicitor warrants throughout New Zealand.

Luke Cunningham Clere has a long tradition as the office of the Wellington Crown Solicitor dating back to 1936.
