Luke Cunningham Clere, one of New Zealand’s leading specialist litigation and public law firms, has exciting graduate opportunities in our Wellington office. The successful candidates will join our team in April 2026.  

 Mō te tūnga | About the role

You will be part of an expert team doing criminal prosecution, regulatory enforcement and public law work on behalf of a wide range of typically public-sector entities. You will work with some of Aotearoa’s best litigators in a firm dedicated to serving the community through the law.

As the Wellington Crown Solicitor’s office we undertake criminal prosecutions for the Crown, Police and other public bodies.  Our practice includes regulatory enforcement, civil and commercial litigation, public law advice and litigation, investigations advice and professional disciplinary proceedings.  Few firms in Aotearoa New Zealand can offer lawyers the hands on advocacy experience we do.

This role primarily involves:

  • Preparing files for trial in the District and High Courts;

  • Regularly appearing in court;

  • Acting as junior counsel with experienced advocates;

  • Drafting opinions; and

  • Legal and other research.
